I just had to include one a Henri Matisse’s cut-out designs as part of the collection of abstract cushion designs for ZIVA.
Matisse‘s cut-outs have been my inspiration before!
A small purse adapted from Matisse’s semi-abstract paper-cut-out called ‘The Horse, Rider and Clown’ from his 1947 book called ‘Jazz’, was my first inspiration.
Then I added a whimsical cuff bracelet design based on Matisse’s “La Perruche et la Sirène”.

I couldn’t resist adding a third, called ‘MODERNISM AND MATISSE’ … a delicate and rhythmic design adapted from Matisse’s mid-20th century modernism period.
A series of hard-edge graphic shapes in colours of yellow, orange, red, blue and turquoise, sit in a (planned) haphazard fashion on a soft, warm beige background.
As only Matisse can design it!
I’m sure I’ll be looking to Matisse again for more inspiration!
